About Us

The Medical Imaging Informatics and Teleradiology (MIIT) conference highlights emerging technologies and best practices in acquiring, processing, managing, accessing, and sharing medical images. It also explores policy developments shaping the field both within Canada and beyond. This annual event features renowned speakers tackling critical challenges in medical imaging informatics, offering attendees a valuable opportunity to engage with experts and seek solutions to pressing questions.

Designed for professionals and students across engineering, computer sciences, and health informatics—including PACS managers, diagnostic imaging managers, IT professionals, CIOs, and CTOs—as well as healthcare providers such as radiologists, technologists, and physicians, and key industry players.

David Koff, MD, FRCPC, FCAR

Dr. David Koff is a distinguished figure in radiology with a career spanning several decades. He is Professor Emeritus at McMaster University and previously served as Chief and Chair of the Department of Radiology. Dr. Koff co-founded RealTime Medical, a company dedicated to enhancing diagnostic imaging services. REALTIME MEDICAL

Throughout his career, Dr. Koff has been a strong advocate for medical imaging informatics, focusing on improving diagnostic accuracy and patient care through technological innovation. His leadership and contributions have significantly advanced the field, particularly in the areas of teleradiology and healthcare interoperability.

Dr. Koff’s commitment to education and research is evident through his academic roles and numerous publications. His work continues to influence the evolution of medical imaging practices both in Canada and internationally.

Don Dennison, CIIP, FSIIM

Don is a seasoned professional in medical imaging informatics, with over 20 years of industry experience. As an independent consultant, he has collaborated with healthcare providers, research institutions, and vendors to enhance imaging informatics solutions. Don is a recognized speaker and panelist, contributing to discussions on healthcare interoperability and the integration of advanced technologies in medical imaging. His expertise and dedication have significantly advanced the field, promoting improved patient care through technological innovation.

Jason Nagels, CIIP, PMP

Jason Nagels is a recognized expert in imaging informatics, boasting over two decades of experience in consultation and education within the field. He has played a pivotal role in advancing digital healthcare and imaging technologies, notably through his contributions to regional provincial repositories. In addition to his consulting work, Jason is deeply involved in professional communities. He serves as the chair of Canada Health Infoway’s Enterprise Imaging Community Group, where he leads discussions on imaging topics to accelerate clinical interoperability. He is also a co-host of SIIMCast, the podcast of the Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and best practices in the field.

Jason’s commitment to education is evident through his development of online courses such as “IMG_101: Introduction to Imaging Informatics,” designed to provide immersive learning experiences for those entering the field. His research contributions, including works on image exchange in Canada, further underscore his dedication to advancing imaging informatics.

Through his extensive experience and active engagement in both academic and industry circles, Jason continues to influence the evolution of imaging informatics, promoting innovation and quality in healthcare IT.

Mohannad Hussain, CIIP

Mohannad is an independent consultant specializing in medical imaging. With over 15 years of experience, he has cultivated a passion for leveraging technology to enhance patient care. Mohannad wears many hats, including serving as the technical project manager for the SIIM Hackathon and the RSNA Radiology Reimagined Demonstration.

A software developer by training, Mohannad discovered his calling in medical imaging informatics and has since become a dedicated advocate for interoperability in healthcare and a strong proponent of open-source solutions. His work reflects a steadfast commitment to advancing the field and empowering the industry to make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes.
